Oftentimes, when my daughter is distracted and I ask her a question, she responds, “I love you Mom,” and throws me kisses. Because she was not actively listening to me, she thinks her expressions of love will cover up for that! And of course, sometimes, it does!
Proverbs 18:13 tells us, “To answer before listening-that is folly and shame.” How often do we talk before God does? Do we take the time to listen to what He is telling us? Many of us are guilty of this. Why? Because God doesn’t always answer our questions when we want Him to. This silence promotes in us our need to intervene, because….well….God is certainly not doing anything! But this silence IS very important. It is during this quiet time that we can truly listen to what God is trying tell us….through His own silence.
